Sakkara experienced strong growth and recognised the need to migrate its largely Excel based information 'systems' to a robust platform that will enable continued growth, increase the trust in numbers, reduce the time spent on the mechanics of report creation and provide greater insight into the business at any given time.
A central reporting tool was required that can report from business line applications as well as Sakkara's financial package. The reporting solution had to provide adhoc access to key metrics (financial, non-financial and a combination of both), allow for detailed analysis of the underlying data (query, drill, pivot, chart) and automate report creation. Furthermore, data that is being created, e.g. the monthly forecast, needed to be stored centrally and be able to be reported upon using the reporting solution outlined above.
Taysols created a central repository that holds financial and non-financial data required for Sakkara's analysis and reporting purposes. This central repository was linked to the various source systems used within Sakkara's business lines; updates from the source systems were automated where applicable.
On 'top' of the central repository Taysols built the Sakkara Reporting Dashboard - a web-based central access point to the most relevant information. From the dashboard, each user can drill down and analyse data further (slice and dice, pivot, run queries against the central repository) and/or access standard reports. Reports were scheduled and automatically pushed to the dashboard or in fact emailed as a PDF to a number of entitled recipients. Security thereby determineed what data users were able to see.
