Business Intelligence

Taysols' expertise spans the twelve recognised criteria of BI capabilities as defined by Gartner (2008). These capabilities can be organised into three categories of functionality: information delivery, analysis, and integration. Information delivery is the core focus of most BI projects today, but there is an increasing need to focus more on analysis to discover new insights, and on integration to implement those insights.

Information Delivery

Information delivery meachnisms include reporting, dashboards, adhoc queries, and Microsoft Office integration. Reporting provides the ability to create formatted and interactive reports with highly scalable distribution and scheduling capabilities. Dashboards provide web-based visualisation and traffic lighting whereas ad-hoc queries provide an IT-independent self-service reporting environment.

Analysis

Analytical applications include OLAP, avanced visualisation, predictive modelling and data mining, as well as scorecards. Scorecards take the metrics displayed in a dashboard a step further by applying them to a strategy map that aligns key performance indicators to a strategic objective.

Integration

Integration capabilities include BI infrastructure, metadata management, development tools, workflow and collaboration. Metadata management is the key to a solid business intelligance framework.
